The final mainstage show of our 22/23 season was a world premiere musical collaboration with Playwrights West...the Teen West Project: Year 11 - On The Subject Of Socks!
A group of elite students, selected to participate in the annual Conference of Cause and Correction, have been charged to address pressing issues dealing with socks. To match? Not to match? And what about toe socks?! Led by their seemingly confident chairperson, Kirk, it seems all will go smoothly - but then a lone naysayer begins to insert her own ideas, sending the entire exercise into comic chaos. Absurdly funny and often poignant, this world premiere musical satire shined a hot light on the challenges and potential downfalls of performative culture.
This work was a cross generational project, pairing award-winning playwright and director, Matthew B. Zrebski with recent Ida B. Wells/(SW)2 graduate and brilliant emerging artist, Nico Vilches.
**This play was recommended for audiences upper-elementary aged and older for some limited mature language and situations**
